Hugh in Wellington

Hugh in Wellington

Thursday evening, walking down Dixon Street on the search for a place where I could get a nice vegetarian soup, I pass a club (Hope Bros) and happen to hear a voice from the inside, which sounds familiar… Hugh Cornwell from the Stranglers is playing.

I am lucky and get in for free (thanks to the really nice guy at the door!) and have a wonderful evening with some old Stranglers classics like “It’s always the sun” (one of my favourites) or “Golden Brown” as well as some of his own songs, which I did not know before (but they are really worth listening to!). In between the songs, Hugh is also reading out of his autobiography and all the approx. 150 people in the club are having a great time.

Everybody out there, if you want to see him live, check: http://www.hughcornwell.com/ I can really recommend it!
